ATHLETICS: Frenchman Eric Renouard stormed to victory in the Jersey Spartan Spring 10K yesterday in a time of 34 min 27 sec, ten seconds ahead of fellow veteran Tim Rogers.

The first senior man was Dave Ibbotson in third with a time of 35.01, just ahead of Ken White.

Favourite Sarah Bruce won the women’s race in 39.51, with Barbara Parker second and Carol Knight third.

BOWLS: John Lowery won four titles at the Jersey Indoor Bowling Association KO finals.

In the Under-35 singles he defeated Thomas Greechan 21-20 then teamed up with Gus McKinnon to beat Greechan and his wife Lindsay 22-16 in the open pairs.

Lowery, Greechan and Gus Hodgetts combined to take the open triples and he, the Greechans and Hodgetts beat McKinnon, Alex Stewart, Ken McNeil and Scott Ruderham 20-12 in the open fours.

GOLF: La Moye junior Alex Clarke won the Webb Holdings Junior Open on his home course yesterday when with 42 Stableford points.

He beat Jersey Western’s Calum Marsh, who scored 41 points, and Scott Lee and Paul Aitkens on 40.

SHOOTING: Richard Le Brun won Class A and High Gun with a score of 45 ex 50 in Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50-bird sporting competition.

Wayne Shales took the B Class with 36 ex 50 and Adrian Fox the C Class with 13 ex 50.

GOLF: Ronnie Apap and Peter Green won La Moye’s St Dunstans Guide Dogs for the Blind Greensomes Stableford on Saturday with 41 points.

Nigel and Greg Mansell were second on 38 and Barry Thorp and Geoff Ramskill third, also with 38.

TENNIS: The Caesarean LTC side were beaten 4-2 by David Lloyd Raynes Park in their first Kia National Club League match at Grands Vaux on Saturday.

Club coach Andrew Evans recorded the Island side’s only singles win and later teamed up with Jeremy Cross for victory in the doubles.

GOLF: La Moye beat Alderney four and a half to one and a half in their match for the Johnny Walker Cup in Alderney yesterday.

GOLF: Brian Duffy (No 2) won St Clement GC’s April monthly medal competition with a nett 58 off 17 handicap on a countback from head greenkeeper and 6-handicapper David Poole.

Ray Cairney was third with a nett 60.

SHOOTING: Graeme Harris came out on top in the Jersey Rifle Association’s metric competition yesterday with a score of 98.3.

Victoria College student J Marshall was second on 96.1 and Mick Cotillard third with 95.3.

Cliff Mallett won the rapid competition at 500 yards with 49.6, ahead of another Victoria student, Harry Sutton, on 48.4.

Wally Langley was third on 47.5.

VOLLEYBALL: Insurance Corporation Volleyball league results: Men’s League: Bank of Scotland Int Astros Two 3, Pentagon Red Hot Tomatoes 1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 25-16); Jacksons Mitsubishi Island Ladies 3, Crills Sandkickers Two 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21); Kleinwort Benson Astros One 3, Crills Sandkickers One 2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12).

GOLF: Kenny Mitchell won the Demi Golf Society’s April Monthly medal with a nett 59 off 8 handicap.

Paul King was second with 61 off 16 and Roger de Sousa third with 63 off 11.

WHIPPET RACING: Steve Lawson’s Coyote won the Bel Air Trophy at the Jersey Pedigree Whippet Racing Club’s meeting at Les Landes yesterday.

Coyote’s heavier brother Cadbury, owned by David Lawson, was second, Cappuccina was third and Jetstream fourth.

The consolation race winner was Jean Burr’s Casino.

Cadbury, with a 13-yard handicap, gained revenge in the April Handicap Shield when he forced Coyote, off 11 yards, into second place.

Mike Rosser’s Cleo won the consolation rosette.

FOOTBALL: Jersey Under-18s and Jersey Under-16s lost matches against professional teams on Saturday.

The Under-18s went down 4-1 away to Caen U18s while the Under-16s were defeated 7-1 by AFC Bournemouth Under-16s.

BADMINTON: The Island side kept up this season’s unbeaten run in High Wycombe with an 8-7 win over table-toppers Buckinghamshire 2nds on Saturday and an 11-4 victory over Sussex 3rds yesterday.

Jersey have now won all six of this season’s matches.

They have two more to play.

CYCLING: Caesarean CC’s Sam Firby won the Jersey Cycling Association’s ten-mile time trial at La Mare yesterday in 22 min 22 sec.

Andy Hamon of VSJ was second 35 seconds behind and CCC veteran Mike Harris was third a further 11 seconds adrift.

HOBIES: Darren Stower and Mike Winspear won the Hobie 16 Class in the first race of the Hobie Fleet’s Summer Breeze series in light airs in St Aubin’s Bay yesterday.

David Carter and Ian Simpson were second and Alex Pearce and Tom Leveridge third.

Rhiannah de Carteret and Laura Jane Carter won the Hobie Dragoons contest ahead of Emma and Laura Voak, with Matt Dale and Rory de Carteret third.

Fifteen boats took part.

The second race was abandoned because of a lack of wind.
