Constable seeks drop in residents’ parking charge
Tuesday 5th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.
ST Helier residents could soon be paying £100 per year less for their parking permits.
The parish Constable, Simon Crowcroft, is to ask the States to reduce the annual fee from £300 to £200 for residents of the Stopford Road and St Mark’s Road residents’ parking zone.
He believes that his parishioners should not pay more for on-street parking than those in other parishes.
If successful, the new charges would come into effect on 1 May.
Research by the parish has shown considerable support among residents for restricted parking zones.
The tariff was last changed on 28 October 2003, when the cost doubled from £150 a year to £300.
