Tantivy scraps plans for Trinity coach depot

PLANS to move Tantivy Blue Coach Tours to Trinity Hill have been scrapped.

The company and farmer Stewart Mourant decided to pull the application to move the operation from Colomberie to Haut du Mont Farm in the face of mounting opposition from residents and politicians.

Mr Mourant said they met last week and felt it was inappropriate to continue with the application.

Tantivy Motors’ managing director Chris Lewis said: ‘While we regret not being able to utilise the existing sheds on those fields, we appreciate the feeling of the residents at the thought of having to put up with a constant stream of coaches through the lanes in the area and the disturbance that will cause.’ They were proposing to turn a former dairy unit into a coach park for 50 vehicles, with associated workshops, paint and body shop, diesel store and staff facilities.

At peak times a coach would have departed from the site every three minutes.
