Solidor 5 returns to Island routes

Wednesday 6th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.

SOLIDOR 5 is making a permanent return to local waters.

The fast ferry will once more be the flagship of Emeraude Lines, a year after the shipping line was forced to charter another ship because of a dispute with Solidor 5′s owners.

But that disagreement – over who should pay for essential engine repairs – has now been resolved so Emeraude has decided to get the ferry back.

The arrival of Solidor 5 will prompt the departure of Emeraude France, a high speed catamaran that the operator’s parent company, Sogestran, chartered from Hoverspeed in the wake of last year’s dispute.

The ship has been sailing between Jersey and St Malo for only two months, having recently replaced an identical vessel called the Emeraude GB, that had also been loaned by the British shipping line.
