Clipper design winners chosen

Friday 8th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.

THE winners of the JEP competition to find the new ‘branding’ for Jersey Clipper have been chosen – but their identities and their successful designs will not be unveiled until the yacht’s naming ceremony on 6 May.

Two winning entries have been selected – one for the large artwork that will appear on each side of the boat’s hull and one for the house flag that will be flown aboard Jersey Clipper every time she is in harbour.

The successful artists, one a Trinity resident and the other a pupil at Haute Vallée School, are to receive cash prizes amounting to a total of £1,500.

This is due to generous sponsorship from the Jersey branch of the Swiss private and investment bank UBS AG, who are one of the key sponsors involved in the new Jersey Clipper campaign.

In addition, they will both be guests of honour at the naming ceremony at St Helier Harbour on 6 May when the Island’s Lieut-Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire, will officially name Jersey Clipper and the two winning designs will be unveiled.
