States begin advertising for a scrutiny manager
Tuesday 12th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.
THE States are advertising for a scrutiny manager as part of the move to a ministerial government system.
The £48,000-a-year post is for a degree-holder with five years of management experience to lead and run a scrutiny section that will encompass four scrutiny panels and a public accounts committee.
Scrutiny panels are one of the principal checks on the executive under the new system, and the panels will be investigating and reviewing existing policies and those proposed by the council of ministers.
Although the shadow scrutiny offices are in the States Building, the new post is likely to be based at Morier House within the offices of the States Greffe.
Deputy Greffier Anne Harris said that they were keen to recruit a scrutiny manager soon so that he or she could become familiar with the role.
She said: ‘He or she needs to be a sound manager, able to lead and develop a brand-new team and a brand-new function.
The existing officers have been working on this for some time, and they have developed protocols to start the service off, but we are moving from shadow to full scrutiny.’
