Former Constable gets heritage portrait vote
Saturday 16th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.
FORMER St Lawrence Constable Iris Le Feuvre has been voted by Islanders to be the subject of the Jersey Heritage Trust’s portrait of a Jersey citizen for 2005.
She is the fifth person to be chosen for the portrait, following environmentalist Mike Stentiford, charity worker Daphne Minihane, Occupation authority Joe Mière and, last year, the former Jersey trades unionist leader René Liron.
No artist has yet been selected to paint Mrs Le Feuvre’s portrait.
A decision is to be made in May, according to the trust.
Around 50 people wrote to the trust to nominate Mrs Le Feuvre.
Among the comments were: ‘She represents what is good and true about Jersey’ and ‘She is a much loved and valued person in society.’
