Fantasy hair makes Joanne the cream of the crop
Tuesday 19th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.
A TALENTED young hairdresser has been crowned Jersey’s Evening Hairstylist of the Year for the second year running at this year’s Highlands College Hair Competition.
And judges decided that Joanne Le Cornu was cream of the crop in another highly competitive category – fantasy hair art.
This involves designing and making a costume as well as styling hair right at the cutting edge of hairstyling.
Joanne, who has been a hairdresser for two years, said: ‘I was surprised to win the competition because the standards are very high.’ Joanne works at Hatley’s Hair and Beauty and is the second of their hair-stylists to win an award in the competition.
Jackie Hatley, the manager of the Beresford Street salon, said: ‘It is great that Joanne has won out of all the other students in the Island.
At Hatley’s we concentrate on in-house training, and it’s good to see that it pays off.’
