New control for Harbours
Tuesday 19th April 2005, 12:00AM BST.
HARBOURS and Airport are pressing ahead with turning Jersey Harbours into a wholly States owned limited company.
Harbours president Senator Len Norman announced in the States today that his committee had to tackle a number of key issues before lodging a projet to bring about the corporate governance changes.
With the committee ceasing to exist at the end of the year under the Machinery of Government reforms, responsibility for Harbours will be transferred to Economic Development.
Senator Norman said the reform programme had to take priority over the plans for Harbours’ corporate status.
The recommendations for the future of Jersey Harbours are contained in a Strategic Analysis Report published today.
