THE cast and crew of the Jersey War Tunnels production, And Then They Came for Me: Remembering The World of Anne Frank, have been invited to perform the play at City Hall in London.

The performances will be presented in association with the London organisation, The Blue Sky Club, a social campaigns network, supporters of which include politicians and influential members of the business, entertainment and media industries.

The collections manager at Jersey War Tunnels, Chris Addison, said: ‘We’re absolutely delighted for the cast and for the production and the values that are central to it.

It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to do something for such a distinguished audience.’ The production was the first play to be staged at the Tunnels and was sold out for its entire six-night run from 4 to 9 April.

Nic Careem, founder of Blue Sky which presented a production of the play at the House of Commons for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January, invited the cast to the UK after seeing the first night of the local production at Jersey War Tunnels.

The multi-media play based on the lives of Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss, two Jewish teenagers who survived the Holocaust, and their relationships with Anne Frank, was directed by Jersey-born actress Joanna Woodbridge.

Mrs Schloss visited the Island to assist with the auditions for the local cast from a number of GCSE and A-level students.

Although she has seen nearly 900 performances of the play since it was first written in 1996, she cut short a trip to America to be present throughout the Jersey run and held a discussion session with the audience after each performance.
