Funds held in Jersey rise

THE value of bank deposits in Jersey went up by 2.6%, to £162.2 billion, in the first three months of this year.

But the number of banking licences went down, from 51 to 48.

Hedge funds and expert funds continue to increase.

The value of collective investment funds managed in the Island increased by £4.3 billion over the same quarter in 2004, to £103.9 billion and the total value of funds under mangement increased by £1.2 billion during the first quarter.
