Cricket:A chance to restore pride
Friday 12th August 2005, 12:00AM BST.
FOLLOWING last week’s inter- insular defeat to Guernsey, in which Jersey appeared to be beaten fair and square, its back to the bread and butter of the KPMG CI Championship and the Jersey sides will be keen to restore some home pride.
This is the second round of the competition, with two games being played in each Island.
In the first round the two Jersey teams from Group B, Caesareans and Old Victorians, recorded victories against their Guernsey opposition and at least one of them look sure to go through to the knock out stages.
Caesareans would almost certainly qualify if they beat Guernsey’s Rovers tomorrow, as will OVs if they defeat Cobo.
Conversely the Jersey teams in Group A face uphill struggles if they are to progress, Romerils having lost to Wanderers and Sporting gifting Optimists 40 points when they were forced to scratch.
Match previews in today’s JEP.
