Around the world in 80 days

A JERSEY couple have just returned from a 6 1/2-year round-the-world trip on their boat Dos Tintos.
Steve and Julie Ferrero set sail in the middle of the night on 30 April 1999 and did not come back to Jersey until last week.
Their tour took in more than 60 locations, including Barbados, Alaska, Hawaii, America and the Christmas Islands.
However, before setting off they did not know quite what their trip would entail.
‘Our plan was to sail the Atlantic for two years and then carry on if we were enjoying the trip’ said Julie.
‘We were absolutely loving it so decided to carry on around the world.’ Steve (47) and Julie (44) varied the time they spent at each destination, their longest stays being in South Africa, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
