Quiet please for the bride and groom

Saturday 3rd September 2005, 12:00AM BST.

THE bride and groom at a wedding in Trinity today will be hoping for silence well before the vicar asks whether there is any ‘just cause’ why they should not be married.

While the congregation agree to ‘forever hold their peace’, organisers of Jersey Live across the road have promised to hold their’s for 45 minutes.

At 4 pm today, Graham Cullen will tie the knot at the parish church with Annette Ware as thousands of concert-goers enjoy the festival bands and DJs at the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Showground.

But the happy couple will not be competing to say I do with the drone of heavy metal or thumping techno – after a special lull in the music programme was agreed with the organisers.

‘We absolutely want everyone to have a good time.

We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun.

We are only going to take an hour, and we did book ours first,’ joked Mr Cullen.

‘It will be a wonderful day.

We are really excited.’
