Goals galore!

THERE was an avalanche of goals in the Coca-Cola Combination matches on Saturday, with the 14 matches producing an average of just under six a game.

Things were tighter in Division II with goals from Fabio Phinho and Chris Duhamel earning Nomads a 2-0 win over St Lawrence in the only first-team fixture of the day.

In Division I Reserves First Tower and Grouville made it two wins out of two with victories over St Paul’s (2-0) and St Ouen (3-0) respectively.

On target for Grouville were Tony Couval (two) and Duncan Prince.

Scottish and Trinity opened their account with high-scoring victories over Wanderers and Rozel respectively.

Trinity won 5-3 at home, with Barry Beatson grabbing a hat-trick.

Lee Blance and Graham Ling were also on target, with Rozel’s goals coming from Jon Carter (two) and Andy McCabe.

Youngster Jack Boyle, a Celtic triallist, opened his senior account for Jersey Scottish with a goal in the 4-3 victory at Wanderers.

Also scoring for the Scots were Robin Cooley, Steve Langan and Craig Duxbury, with Michael Cummins, Marc Reid and Ton Carolan hitting the net for Wanderers.

The first full list of fixtures in Division II Reserves was also full of goals, with Portuguese Club taking up the early running with a 7-0 victory at St Lawrence.

Elson Delgado led the way with a treble, with the others coming from Marciano Rodrigues, Tiago Alves, Carlos Figueira and Nelson Castro.

A hat-trick from Michael Perreira, along with singles from Stephen du Four and Phil Helleur, earned Sporing Accies an astonishing 5-3 win over Nomads – the home side having trailed 3-0 to goals from Nomads’ Jon Leonard, Chris Gallagher and an own goal.

St Brelade beat visiting St John 5-2, with doubles coming from Nico Bisson and Tony Barnes and a single fromNeil Hacquoil.

Matt Cornic and Adi Deverill got St John’s consolations.

St Clement won 4-2 at home against Beeches Old Boys, with Nathan Taylor (two), Adi Hick and Richard Moulson on target for the winners.

Paul Skinner and Hamyln Moon replied for Beeches.

Magpies and St Martin/SCF played out the only draw of the day, 1-1, with respective goals coming from Justin Jouan and Omar Sonha.

Grouville were the day’s top scorers with a thumping 10-3 win away to Rozel in Division C.

Paul Cilia and Jason Byrne both claimed hat-tricks, with other strikes coming from Liam Kelly (two), Stuart Cunnington and Giles Johnstone-Scott.

Bob Haycock, Craig Le Sueur and Peter Hawley scored for the hosts.

St Clement’s Adi Hick (two) and Richard Moulson were again on target in their second match of the day, a 6-1 home victory over Sporting Academics.

Michael Cavey, Jay Byrne and Paul Yates also scored for the Saints, with Leighton Kelly claiming the Accies’ consolation.

St Lawrence beat St Brelade 4-2, with doubles coming from Jon Hanby and Stephen Pinzari.

A double from Phil Kendall and an own goal gave St Peter a 3-2 home victory over Wanderers.

John Thwaites and Alan Yates scored for Wanderers.
