Cann displays her steel at tournament in Sheffield

ELIZABETH CANN won the first tournament of the season held in Sheffield at the weekend, beating Julia Mann in the final 11-4, 10-13, 12-10.

On the way to the finals she played England squad member Eleanor Cox, beating her 11-4, 11-7.

He semi-final match was against Jill Pittard who was defeated 11-8, 13-12.

Cann was pleased with this result as she is still in her summer training and is not yet tournament fit.

Solenn Pasturel also played at the weekend.

She played well to beat Rachel Howard in straight sets and then played Mann.

Pasturel put up a good performance and the 11-6, 11-2 scoreline does not reflect the closeness of the match.
