IF Investec Jersey were expecting to ease themselves into the new season after a relaxing summer break they are in for a rude awakening.

Jersey are set to join hosts Guernsey, the Isle of Man and a Guernsey Select XI in what is set to be a good test.

This is the first year the tournament has been run and should help give the Investec Jersey players greater exposure to a higher standard of hockey.

If the tournament proves to be a success it is hoped that it will become a regular fixture which will be hosted by each of the other competing sides in turn.

Malta and Gibraltar have also committed themselves to playing in the tournament next year.

This competition will help blow away any pre-season cobwebs and prepare the Investec Jersey team for their campaign in the England Hockey Trophy which starts on 6 November, away to Hereford Hockey Club, as well as providing some grounding for the Investec Men’s Hockey League which will start on 10 September 2005.
