Waterfront: Concerns raised
Tuesday 13th September 2005, 12:00AM BST.
CONCERNS were voiced openly over the future of the waterfront at a public meeting last night.
More than 100 people were at the Société Jersiaise to discuss plans for the Castle Quay and Les Jardins developments.
Most were worried that not enough consultation had been carried out with Islanders before plans were put forward and many said they were not happy with the concept of tall buildings going up on the site, or the focus being taken away from the town centre.
The meeting was chaired by Société president Francis Corbet and there were speeches from Advocate Christopher Scholefield, Paul Harding, Nigel Quérée and Marie-Louise Backhurst on where the waterfront should go from here.
Questions and comments were then gathered from the audience, which the Société plan to compile and send to Policy and Resources and Environment and Public Services.
