Hit and run driver didn’t even brake

A DRINK-driver who did not brake after running down and seriously injuring a woman was today beginning a 16-month jail term.

Karl McShane (37) was an estimated three times over the legal limit when he ploughed into the 52-year-old after a pub crawl on 7 May.

He then tried to hide his damaged Wrangler Jeep and went to bed.

His victim, who was squashed between the 4×4 and a wall on St Clement’s Main Road, was left alone, screaming and bleeding on the roadside.

The Royal Court heard yesterday that she was lucky not to have lost a leg after the bones below the knee were smashed.

She also suffered head injuries and lost part of a toe.
