Jersey RFC shine brightest at St Peter
Monday 26th September 2005, 12:00AM BST.
SOME of the best rugby witnessed in the Island for several seasons resulted in an impressive 38-12 win for Jersey RFC on Saturday.
Making their home debut in London South Division II, following their championship procession last season, Jersey overcame classy opponents Maidstone with a combination of dogged defending, incisive running, impressive fitness and accurate kicking.
Twice trailing in the first half, a try double from makeshift winger Dave Carswell edged Jersey ahead by the break and further tries from Jim Brimelow, Paul Nayar and Marcus Nobes sealed victory.
Darren Toudic booted 13 points to earn a 26-point winning margin, although the points were hard earned by the whole team.
Jersey are third after three games, two points behind behind early pace-setters Portsmouth.
