Author and PR man to stand in St Helier
Friday 30th September 2005, 12:00AM BST.
ONE of the Island’s best known PR consultants, author Peter Tabb, will be contesting the election for Deputy in the St Helier No 2 district.
St Helier-born Mr Tabb (61) founded Direct Input Ltd in 1981 after 15 years with the JEP advertisement department, which he managed before setting up his own business.
Since then he has become well known as a spokesman for many local businesses and organisations.
He was one of the so-called Seven Angry Men who led the opposition to States policies two years ago when they perceived extra taxation being foisted on the public without any curbs on public spending.
‘Since embarking some 25 years ago on a career as a professional spokesman, I have frequently found myself in public debate with States Members and departments,’ said Mr Tabb.
A comment often put to him, he said, particularly since being identified as one of the Seven Angry Men, was ‘If you think you can do any better, why don’t you stand for election?’ ‘I have decided to respond to the challenge and stand for the States.
I was born in St Helier, live there, and have spent most of my working life in the district,’ he said.
