Dizzy heights for Saints at start of campaign
Tuesday 4th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
ST CLEMENT are in the unaccustomed position of joint top of the Coca-Cola Combination Ladies League.
After just one game, a 5-0 home win against Grouville, the Saints lead on goal-difference from three other clubs following a hat-trick by Ebonnie Hotton and singles from Lisa Stallard and Fiona Dowling.
Champions First Tower won 6-2 at St Brelade with two goals apiece from Kerry Sauvage, Louise Vandervliet and Kim Ashton.
On the mark for the parish side were Roisin Neubert, Helen Le Monnier and Kirsty du Heaume.
St John returned from St Peter victors by the odd-goal in five.
St Peter took the lead on the half hour with Susan Stewart capitalising on some statuesque defending.
The goal stung St John into life and chasing a good pass through defence Lori Moran equalised with a good strike.
St John started the second half well and following a good passing move Becky Darts fired them 2-1 ahead.
Shortly after Mich Rihoy made it 3-1 after bravely winning the ball.
St Peter fought back strongly to grab a second, Jo Fuller hitting the target after fine play from Stewart.
Kathryn Porter hit a hat-trick and Sheree Maher a single as Jersey Wanderers won 4-2 at the Hockey Club against St Paul’s, the latter replying through Dee Byrne and Joelene Cannon.
