Ceiling collapse causes St Mary road to close

Wednesday 5th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.

A ROAD in St Mary could be closed for the next two months following some structural damage to a property.

The side wall on a residential property in Chemin des Hougues, which is by the Priory Inn at Devil’s Hole, bulged on Sunday afternoon as an internal ceiling collapsed.

There was no work being carried out at the time and no one was hurt.

Centenier Mark Evans said: ‘As a precaution we have closed the road until further notice as it could be a danger to anyone walking or driving by.

Some surveyors and the owner’s insurance company are investigating but we expect that to take some time.’ Anyone wishing to get down to Mourier Valley can use a footpath behind the pub.
