Police to tackle drinking culture
Thursday 6th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
THE police are to put more officers on the streets at weekends to tackle the Island’s binge-drinking culture more effectively.
The decision is one of a number of measures the States police are working on to make the town a less intimidating place at night and particularly at weekends.
The decision, made possible as a result of a new shift system, will bring more officers on the streets when they are needed to deal with threatening and disorderly behaviour.
Two overlapping shifts will now be available if required.
