ST OUEN moved three points clear of Beeches Old Boys, from a game played more, at the top of Division II in the Coca-Cola Combination last night.
Two goals from Shane Carré and one from Rob Sanford took the hosts to a 3-1 success against St Martin/SCF, the visitors replying with a 30-yard curler into a far top corner by Mark Harris.
First Tower Reserves completed the quarter-final line-up for the JFA’s Willis Cup last night after defeating Portuguese Club’s first-team 3-0 at Les Quennevais.
Scorcher All the goals came in the final third of the game, Steven Ruiz scoring twice, after excellent play from José Costa and Steve McKenna for the first and second goals respectively, with substitute Wayne Shales adding a scorcher from 25 yards.
Ruiz had a penalty kick saved by Portuguese goalkeeper Nuno Duarte and Mendes also hit Tower’s crossbar when his side were trailing 1-0.
Tower now play Grouville Reserves at Les Quennevais on Wednesday 2 November.
