Snooker:Gogan and Gould put Mechanics clear

MECHANICS A’s Jeremy Gogan and Ian Gould opened up a two point lead at the top of Division I on Monday following an 8-1 success against Mechanics C.
Gogan was on song with breaks of 33 and 26 to beat Matthew Collins 3-0.
Gould also ran in a 27 while defeating Colin Heys 2-1.
Gogan and Gould also won the doubles match three-straight.
United Services and Mechanics B are joint second after Services beat Mechs B 5-4.
Island champion Robbie Kilpatrick had a 32 break in his 3-0 win against Mechs B’s Curt Tindall.
Mechs B cueist Mick Mahrer defeated Bob Bradshaw 2-1 and the doubles went to the Mechs duo by the same score.
St Brelade have joined First Tower A at the top of Division II after their 7-1 win at Mechanics A.
Two-frame winners for St Brelade were Chris Corfield, Steve Thomas and Sean McDonald.
Tower A drew 4-4 with Tower C.
A-team captain Malcolm Malzard was in fine form beating C-team captain Aubrey Rive 60-7, 72-16.
St Aubin are up to joint-third alongside Tower B after winning 5-3 at Mechanics B.
St Aubin’s Trevor Hutchings and Gary Boschat won two frames as did Alan Pipes for the Mechs.
Tower B’s Nathan Silvester scored a 28 break in a 2-0 win against Caesareans’ Steve Venables in a 4-4 draw.
United Services A replaced Beeches at the top of Division III after a resounding 8-0 win away to the previous leaders.
Last year’s champions were in good form with Dave Hammond bagging breaks of 27, 25 and 24 and Tony Johnson registering a 26.
Services lead First Tower by two points, Tower winning 5-3 at St Aubin’s Institute.
Two-frame winners for Tower were Graham Duhamel and Howard Smith, 54-41, 35-5 and 50-39, 48-10 against René Turmel and Eddie Le Chevalier respectively.
Two points separate five teams at the top of Division IV, led jointly by Police and Vinchelez.
Three matches finished four-all as Vinchelez were the only winners on the night – 6-2 at St Brelade.
The latter’s Danny Larbalestier made it eight wins out of eight played after defeating John Gallichan.
Newcomer Rem Floris made a 21 break in Tower B’s 4-4 draw with the Police while Tower A youngster Connor Davies had the biggest frame win on the night, 77-34 at Alliance against Simon Larbalestier.
United Services and Tower B are joint leaders of the Billiards division, by a point from Mechanics.
Services’ Robbie Kilpatrick and Guy Heys each won their matches with Heys scoring a 34 break.
Tower B won 2-1 at home to Tower A with Bob Denison getting a 33 break against Martyn Le Gallais and Tony Venton notching efforts of 27 and 21 against Ben White.
Mechanics’ Mick Mahrer had two 26 breaks in a 2-1 defeat by Tower C.
