VICTORY in Saturday’s second-string RSL match means Jersey now hold, for the first time, all three senior badminton inter-insular trophies.

Saturday’s match at the New Gilson Hall was drawn 15 games all, but on a count-back of sets Jersey won the Shield 36-35.

Last season Guernsey had won on a count-back.

All 12 of Jersey’s players contributed to the victory with Jersey winning the men’s doubles 5-4, Guernsey the ladies doubles 7-2 and Jersey the mixed 8-4.

Jersey’s Mark Constable won the Player of the Match award.

Jersey now hold the Gilson Cup (1st team); RSL Shield (2nd team) and Veterans Cup – not to mention being the NatWest Island Games gold medallists and champions of National Inter County Championship Division IIIc!
