Driving licence victory for Poles
Wednesday 12th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
POLISH driving licences could soon be swapped for Jersey ones, saving Poles the often considerable cost of taking lessons and a test.
It was confirmed today that the Island and Poland could be close to an agreement, which would see Poland allow Islanders resident there to swap their licences for Polish ones on expiry.
If such an offer is made by the Polish authorities, then Poles living in the Island would be allowed to exchange their Polish licences for Jersey ones when they become permanently resident here.
