RWB kept up their good early season run of results with a 3-0 victory over Ernst and Young Quackers in Investec Ladies Hockey Division I on Sunday at Les Quennevais.

Investec Ladies Division I, E & Y Quackers 1sts 0, RWB 3: RWB had much of the early pressure but were unable to convert from early short corners.

They eventually broke through when Sarah Heelis deflected in Charlie Sabey’s flick towards goal.

Quackers’ Sarah Trachy and Helen Wisemen worked hard to relieve the pressure, but RWB added a second shortly before half time when Zoë Smart found Chrissie Hefford free in the circle and she ably slipped the ball home.

The young Quackers side played well to deny RWB chances in the second half, with Barbara Littler outstanding in goal.

Quackers maintained their shape well, with Fiona Anderson and Fiona Bailhache working hard in midfield.

RWB, however, scored the third and final goal of the game through Sally MacDowall, following a short corner.

Ladies Development Division, Quackers Drakes 4, Quackers Ducks 1: Gemma and Rachel Sutton played well for Ducks and were involved in some slick passing moves.

But it was Drakes who scored first through Rosie Curtis, Gemma Dawkins and Sam Lee.

Gemma Sutton pulled one back for Ducks to bring them back into the game before half time.

Connie Taylor-Cox and Jordana Wherry gave strong performances in goal and kept out numerous short corner attempts.

In the second half, Curtis added her second, to put the game out of the Ducks’ reach.

Crusaders Jnrs 4 v Nomads 0: It was a fairly even first half, with Crusaders taking a 1-0 lead before half time courtesy of a goal from Alex Bolton.

Crusaders gradually exerted their authority in the second half and, despite game defence by Nomads, they extended their lead with three further goals, one from Nick Wildman after a fine solo run and two from Robert Cuming, both following up after short corners.

Jersey Ladies HC 3, JHC 0: The ladies started well and they opened the scoring after some excellent play from Anne Banahan, who drove to the by-line before slipping the ball back for Sarah Smith to slot home.

Excellent defending from Jane Vincent, Tracy Vallois and Sarah Lovell left the boys’ breaking attacks unrewarded.

The Ladies’ second came after a strike by Chula O’Donaghue rebounded to Sarah Kerley who hit home.

Smith scored her second not long after to secure a 3-0 first-half lead.

The boys came back well in the second half, with Tom Le Lièvre playing consistently well.

but they were unable to break down the Ladies defence.

Kerry Warwick and Louise Hotton were outstanding in midfield, but despite more chances from both sides the score remained unchanged.

Investec Men’s Division II, Investec Ladies 5, Victoria College 2nds 3: The Ladies took a while to settle against ten-man College and were unable to take advantage of the situation until the stroke of half time when Chrissie Hefford struck from a short corner.

The second half started with College now at full strength, but the Ladies’ pressure told and Hefford scored her second after another short corner.

Becky Darts added the third with a sweet strike from the top of the D following good build up play.

Kirstin Buttle-Ulvin and Lauren Jéhan caused College a lot of problems down the right and were well supported by forwards Hefford, Sarah Kerley, Tiff Pendergast and Sophie MacLachan.

The Ladies went four up when a strike by Hefford was tapped in by Kerley.

College, threatening on the break, pulled one back from open play – only for the Ladies to immediately respond with Louise Hotton stroking the ball home from a pass by Darts.

College did stage a mini revival in final ten minutes, scoring twice more, the second from a slip pass by Phil Cumming who had made a fine solo run.
