Dealers ‘tailed by police’
Tuesday 18th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
TWO local dealers were tailed by undercover detectives as they collected wads of cash to pay off drug pushers from Liverpool, an Assize jury heard yesterday.
The prosecution said John Beamer and Mark Goldie were involved in a plot to deal 16.5 kilos of cannabis with a street value of around £90,000.
They both deny conspiring to supply the drug between 1 September and 4 November last year.
On the opening day of their trial in the Royal Court, Crown Advocate Stephen Baker said the two men were linked to a stash of the class B drug found carefully hidden in a ditch near Grands Vaux reservoir.
