UP to eight wealthy households could be heading for Jersey in the coming months as a result of the States initiative to attract more 1(1)k residents.

Director of high value residency for the States, Nigel Philpott, says that he is now working closely with the applicants to help them submit applications to the Comptroller of Income Tax and comply with Housing Department regulations.

‘We are seeing a lot of interest, although because of the complexity of people’s lives the lead-in time tends to be quite lengthy.

So far I’ve had around 50 inquiries for information which I’m dealing with at the moment and six to eight who are extremely interested.

‘However, it is true to say that some are also looking at other jurisdictions as well.

But we are certainly seeing a lot of interest as a result of the activities carried out through financial services businesses, banks and legal firms, on behalf of their clients,’ he said.
