Top artist donates oil painting worth £6,000

AN important contemporary Scottish artist is donating a £6,000 oil painting to the Jersey Opera House Appeal.
Falle Fine Art in Halkett Place has agreed to display Evening St Marco, Venice, by John Mackie, until it is sold and all proceeds from the sale will go to the cause.
‘John has family who live in the Island and he feels that it is a cause that he wants to support,’ gallery owner John Falle said.
‘He is very interested in the architectural side of the Opera House as well as what goes on stage.
He would like to play his part by making available this painting.’
