Dandara man admits rigging poll
Thursday 20th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
A MEMBER of Dandara’s staff has admitted rigging the JEP phone vote on the waterfront development, the company revealed yesterday, and that person has been dismissed by them.
The developers say they conducted their own investigation after the States voted to set up a committee of inquiry to discover who was responsible, and the person owned up.
Dandara are satisfied that no malice was intended and that it was ‘simply a misguided attempt to ensure future employment’.
They have also apologised for any inconvenience caused.
The vote was to measure public opinion on both Dandara’s proposed development of towers of up to 20 storeys for Castle Quay and David Crossland’s of two 13-storey buildings at Jardins de la Mer.
The result was a massive vote in favour of the former and against the latter.
