No dirty tricks, say Telecom
Thursday 20th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY Telecom are refusing to take the blame for the delay in the new voice service from rivals Cable & Wireless.
As reported on Tuesday, Cable & Wireless are ready to switch on the new telephone service but are dependent on Jersey Telecom to connect up to the existing infrastructure.
They say they had expected Jersey Telecom to have ordered the necessary kit, but Jersey Telecom say they were waiting for an order from Cable & Wireless.
JT assistant director Daragh McDermott said: ‘We placed an order as soon as we received the order from Cable & Wireless.
I don’t have the exact date.
Mr McDermott said Jersey Telecom had followed the law to the letter.
‘We have a reference interconnect offer (REO) in place that sets out the legal, operational and technical requirements and at the moment we are living up to our legal obligations.
If Cable & Wireless have a complaint they can go to the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority and complain to them, if they believe we are doing anything wrong.
