UK inquiry team interview fatal crash police driver

THE police sergeant who was driving the police car that killed Debbie Gardiner in a crash on the St Clement’s Coast Road in early August was interviewed under caution last week.

Officers from the Devon and Cornwall police interviewed P sgt Mark Hafey on both Tuesday and Thursday.

Supt John Pearson declined to answer whether P sgt Hafey was accompanied by a legal adviser or a member of the Police Federation when the interviews were conducted.

The superintendent also declined to say for how many hours P sgt Hafey was interviewed and whether or not any visits were made to the scene of the crash as part of the interview process.
