Rape charge: Man in Court

A MAN appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with the rape of a 19-year-old woman in Roseville Street on 17 October.

Clark Taljaard (30), of Rue du Craslin, Sandybrook, St Peter, is alleged to have attacked the woman in the early hours of Monday morning.

Mr Taljaard, a native of South Africa, did not speak and stared straight ahead as the charge was read.

He is due to appear before the Magistrate again in four weeks.

No application for bail was made.
