Petrol pump prices fall by average of 2p
Saturday 22nd October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
PETROL pump prices in the Island have fallen over the past week – by 6p a litre at one garage.
The reason for the fall is the drop in the price of oil after months of increases.
Petrol has dropped by an average of around 2p per litre in the last week, although some garages are still charging the same.
However, the cost of diesel has remained virtually unchanged.
The news also comes only a week after Fair Play began printing its top ten cheapest petrol prices each Saturday.
The 5.9p per litre reduction has come at St Ouen’s Motor Works, which is now selling unleaded at 85p a litre.
But the cheapest fuel is still at the Freelance Garage at Trinity, which is selling its premium unleaded at 78.2p a litre – almost 13p cheaper than the most expensive of its rivals.
