New move to tighten rules on immigration

JERSEY has ‘at least one hand tied behind its back’ in applying tighter immigration controls on criminals, States Members were told yesterday.
The Attorney General, William Bailhache, and the States Police chief, Graham Power, led a seminar for States Members about calls for tighter controls yesterday afternoon, following the brutal murder of nursery nurse Tracy Burns by a teenager with a lengthy criminal record who had only recently arrived in the Island.
