Senator critical of ‘identikit’ plans

DANDARA’S plans for Castle Quay have again come under fire, with fears that Jersey are being sold an ‘identikit’ project that may look like every other waterfront in the world.

Senator Stuart Syvret has accused the Waterfront Enterprise Board of accepting a ‘clone’ development like so many other waterfronts in the world.

He argued that this kind of development in Jersey would be geared towards maximising profits for investors rather than giving the Island a unique, world exclusive project.

But waterfront architect Eric Kuhne, who designed Dandara’s Castle Quay, firmly rejected claims that he has ever designed ‘identikit’ projects.

He said his designs for Jersey’s waterfront were drawn exclusively from the Island’s cultural identity and ethos.
