Old school to offer new opportunities
Friday 28th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.
A COMMUNITY centre should open at the former La Pouquelaye School next month.
It is hoped that everything from bingo to mother and toddler groups will be offered at the old school, which has been empty since July following the construction of the new d’Auvergne School.
The idea has come from the parish of St Helier, which has taken on a six-month lease and hopes to retain the site if the project is a success.
The Constable, Simon Crowcroft, said he was really excited about what was happening.
‘A lot of people want to get involved and lots of really good ideas have been put forward,’ he said.
