AN Island couple have described the five terrifying days they spent trapped in a concrete convention centre in Mexico as Hurricane Wilma raged above them.
For two of those days they huddled together with 2,500 other tourists right beneath the ferocious eye of the storm.
With winds reaching 140 mph and rain whipping across Cancun, Dave and Jenni Ward watched the supposedly hurricane-proof building in their Moon Palace resort start to fall apart around them.
Reinforced windows were blown out and sections of the ceiling fell down as water found its way into the centre through the roof.
