Brooking helps JFA celebrate

Saturday 29th October 2005, 12:00AM BST.

THE Jersey Football Association celebrations continue on Saturday with the Centenary dinner and visit of Sir Trevor Brooking.

The former England and West Ham United midfielder is among the speakers at the evening’s function at Hotel de France while during daylight hours he will visit two Jersey clubs.

In the morning Sir Trevor visits the Hockey Club to meet with officials of the Island’s first Charter Standard Community Club, Jersey Wanderers.

The clubmen who will greet Sir Trevor will be Wanderers president Gary Dauvin, secretary Peter Lucas, first-team manager Daryn Noble and honorary life president Frank Lucas.

Brooking and FA officials Simon Wood (regional facilities manager) and Martin Preston (regional development manager) will later visit St Clement FC – a Charter Standard Development Club who are currently having their facilities developed.

St Clement, who could become the first Jersey club to benefit from the FA’s Football Foundation Fund, will be represented by development and football committee manager Mick King and treasurer Peter Gully.

Sir Trevor is Director of Football Development for the FA and since coming into the post he has made a great effort to visit grass roots football around the country.

He will be accompanied on his travels today by JFA football development officer Brian Oliver.
