SWIMMING: The three-day AIB Tigers’ Open swim meet, which finished at Les Quennevais swimming pool yesterday, attracted 240 swimmers and resulted in Tigers winning 69 medals (25 gold) ahead of Beau Séjour Barracudas, 63 (23 gold) and Jersey SC, 36 (15 gold).
Truro City took away the cheque as the best none-Channel Islands swimming club.
GOLF: The Demi Golf Society’s St Clement’s Shield, played for on Saturday, was won by George de Sousa with 37 points off a handicap of 15.
Second was Ian Beeley (37 points, 13 handicap) and third was Jorge Moniz (37 points, 10 handicap).
WHIPPET RACING: An early birthday present for Doreen Garnier saw her young whippet, Kalele, win the 75-yards Dash Trophy at the club’s Le Moye Track on Saturday in ideal racing conditions.
Second in the round-robin contest was last year’s winner, Steve Lawson’s Capucinna.
The second session of races was for the Shenton Memorial Trophy run over 100 yards for entrants who had not previously won a major trophy.
First overall was Comanche owned by Sue and Richard Slous, with Dr Mike and June Rosser’s Cleo finishing second.
HOCKEY: On Saturday, in the Investec Men’s Division, Victoria College 1st XI beat JHC Gobis 2-0.
In the same division Victims beat Hautlieu 6-2.
In Division II Crusaders beat Victoriana 5-3 and JHC Lions drew 2-2 with OVs veterans.
GOLF: In the winter league Stableford seniors competition at Les Mielles Ladies Golf Club on Friday Ian Journeaux took top honours with 21 points from a handicap of 16 with M Clancy second with 18 (18 handicap) and C Michel third with 18 (18 handicap).
CLAY PIGEON: The Crabbé Pigeon Club’s 50-bird A-class high gun competition yesterday was won by Dave Le Rendu with a 42 ex-50 while the B-class was won jointly by Andrew Woodward and Martyn Shales with a 35 ex-50.
The C-class was won by Andrew Barnes (30 ex-50).
GOLF: La Moye GC won the Falklands Trophy 8-4 in their inter-club competition against the Royal GC on Saturday.
GOLF: The ladies’ committee won the Clark Cup, two and a half points to one and a half, playing against the management committee at the Royal Jersey Golf Club yesterday.
VOLLEYBALL: Twenty-eight teams entered the St Pierre Park Hotel Guernsey Open at the weekend, including teams from Jersey.
A strong Anglesey side won the men’s and mixed team competitions while Ashcombe won the ladies’ tournament.

The 11th Great Garden Bird Watch took place over the weekend, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February. JEP readers were asked to get on board to help monitor bird life in the Island.
