Heroes to a man!

FOUR men have been awarded the Jersey Humane Society’s Letter of Appreciation for their actions in helping their fellow Islanders.
Tony Farnham, Matthew Webster, Dag Veiby and Michael Charlton each received the framed letter at a ceremony last night.
Society secretary Ron McLean said: ‘Those who receive these awards are people who have saved lives by putting themselves in danger, whether trying to rescue people at sea or trying to save someone from a house on fire.
‘The reason we awarded the letter of appreciation to Mr Webster, Mr Veiby and Mr Charlton was because of their bravery in the tragedy that occurred at St Ouen’s Bay this summer.
Mr Webster heard a six-year-old boy screaming for help in the water and paddled out on his surfboard to rescue him.
He saw that Mr Christon was in trouble and got back to shore with the boy and raised the alarm.
Mr Charlton and Mr Veiby got to Mr Christon and tried to revive him until the lifeguards came.
Mr Farnham has on a number of occasions helped people at La Rocque.
In particular, he went to the aid of a couple earlier this year who were in grave danger.
They had been cut off by the incoming tide and Mr Farnham navigated his boat among the rocks at great risk to himself and managed to pull the couple on board his boat.
