Put Christmas on ice!

Monday 5th December 2005, 12:00AM GMT.

CHRISTMAS celebrations took off in town this weekend, with the Fête dé Noué and the launch of the Palais de Glace and the Joint Charity Christmas Appeal.

Hundreds of people turned out to see the opening of the Palais de Glace on Saturday as pop singer Pippa Fulton turned on the waterfront’s first Christmas lights display and Islanders took to the ice for the first time.

The Joint Charity Christmas Appeal was launched in the Royal Square on Saturday and choirs and entertainers took to the streets.

The festive theme spread across the Island with the National Trust Christmas Bazaar at Grève de Lecq on Saturday and on Sunday the shopping and entertainment continued in St Helier.
