DE LA SALLE Year-7 footballers won the inter-schools Wagon Wheels five-a-side tournament on Thursday to complete a football double.

Despite losing their first group game, 2-1 to Le Rocquier, De La Salle qualified for the knock-out stages and went on to beat Haute Vallée 3-0 in the final following two goals by Calvin Weir and one by Charlie Petulla.

Haute Vallée three times trailed in their semi before winning in extra-time 5-3 against Le Rocquier.

De La Salle won the other semi 4-0 against Grainville.

All matches, played at Langford Sports Centre, were five minutes each way with the top two in each three-team group qualifying for the knock-out stages.

The victors will now play in the regional stage of the competition early next year.

Two weeks ago De La Salle won an 11-a-side inter-schools tournament, the first part of their double.

Scott Clayton, Callum Rabet, Charles Hubert, Jack Burroughs, Charlie Sanchez, Sam Crabtree, Charlie Petulla and Calvin Weir played in the 5-a-side tournament, with the same players in the 11-a-side squad together with Luke Huelin, Bradley Stratford, James Goddard, Sam Fuller, Harry Chinn and Alex Olim.
