Nurses discuss dispute action
Wednesday 7th December 2005, 12:00AM GMT.
A MASS meeting of nurses is to be held tonight at the Town Hall to decide what action to take as a result of a dispute over changes to working practices.
The meeting has been called by the Nurses’ and Midwives’ Joint Executive, which comprises members of two nursing unions, the Jersey Nursing Association (JNA) and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
Last week the unions issued a statement saying that morale is at an all-time low and patient care could soon be compromised unless a solution to the staffing dispute is found urgently.
Tonight’s meeting will discuss ‘grave concerns’ expressed by nurses over the implementation of a new career and pay structure known as the job family agreement.
