Glendening enjoys training camp at Crystal Palace

IT is the middle of a busy few weeks for the young swimmers from the AIB Tigers Swimming Club.

Emma Glendening (12) was in London on her first Sout East Region Training Camp at the weekend.

The camp was for swimmers who have been identified as showing National potential from the region.

Glendening said that she had enjoyed the camp, which was held at Crystal Palace: ‘I had such a fun time, but it was hard work too.’ she said.

At the same time, 18 of the younger AIB Tigers travelled to Oxford to compete alongside 29 other clubs from the region.

The swimmers all acquitted themselves well, with many personal best swims along with numerous Hampshire qualifying times set.

The meet was the first away gala for many swimmers, and Tigers coach Christina Blampied said she was pleased with the results and attitude of her charges.

‘This was our first away meet of the season and I am very pleased with how all the swimmers are going at this early stage.

There were some great fast times and all the swimmers should be very proud of themselves,’ she commented.

The hectic pace set over the weekend does not stop there, with another 20 Tigers travelling to Sheffield for a long course meet and the whole club competing at next weekend’s JSC Age Groups at Les Quennevais.
