No confidence vote by nurses

Thursday 8th December 2005, 12:00AM GMT.

A MASS meeting of nurses last night supported a vote of no confidence in health service managers at a meeting at the Town Hall.

More than 300 employees turned up and are understood to have instructed their union leaders to take their grievances over changes to working practices to a formal disputes procedure.

The attendance is believed to be the biggest ever union meeting of nurses and associated staff held in Jersey.

JNA official Nick Corbel said this morning that he could not comment on the outcome of the meeting as scheduled discussions with management were being held this morning.

It is known, however, that the staff at last night’s meeting overwhelmingly supported a vote of no confidence in management.
