Polish festival next summer

Saturday 10th December 2005, 12:00AM GMT.

AWARD-winning films, traditional food, music and the odd vodka will be served up as Islanders celebrate the first Polish Summer Festival next year.

A provisional programme has been announced for next year’s five-day event in July which will showcase the cultural richness of one of Jersey newest communities.

The festival will follow in the footsteps of the Battle of Flowers, the Portuguese Food Fair and others which bring all Islanders together for a summer celebration.

The Polish festival is due to take place between Saturday 17 June and Wednesday 21 June, although those dates may be subject to change depending on the availability of top bands travelling from Poland specially for the event.

One of those is expected to be a favourite of the late John Peel called Myslovitz.
